The State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs maintains travel warnings and Consular Information Sheets with rules and regulations pertaining to foreign travelers for every country in the world. This information is available by telephone, fax, and computer:

Revolving Globe  The State Department Consular Information Sheets are a basic source of up-to-date information on safety and security issues in every country of the world. Travel warnings on specific countries are issued as needed. This information should be checked by all travelers prior to their departure.

Other Internet sites also have current information of value to travelers. Some of these are listed below. Note that the Internet addresses for these sites do change from time to time.

  • Health Information: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has a site devoted to health recommendations for various geographic areas, disease outbreaks, and vaccine requirements. The address is http://www.cdc.gov/travel/index.html.
  • Weather Information: World-wide weather information is available at several sites including http://weather.yahoo.com
  • Foreign Exchange Rates: Exchange rates are available at http://quote.yahoo.com. Click on International, then Currency Converter.
  • On-Line Publications: State Department and other publications on various aspects of traveling and living abroad are found under Travel Publications at  http://travel.state.gov.
  • Business Travelers: A consolidated index of information for business travelers and Americans residing overseas is at http://www.state.gov/e/eb/cba.
